Feeling Overwhelmed? Here’s How to Regain Control

Do you ever feel like you’re running on a treadmill that’s just a tad too fast? The to-do list seems endless, and no matter how fast you run, you can’t catch up.

The Impact of Overwhelm

Feeling overwhelmed and behind isn’t just stressful. It significantly affects our ability to live a fulfilling and balanced life.

This constant state can lead to burnout, decreased productivity, and unhappiness. Prolonged stress impacts everything from sleep quality to relationships.

The Age of Endless Possibilities

We live in an age of limitless information and opportunities. This can lead to decision fatigue.

Our brains have limited bandwidth, so willpower alone won’t cut it. The pressure to make everything perfect often leads to doing nothing at all.

A Simple Solution

Over the years of feeling overwhelmed, I developed a simple 3-step system:

1. Brain Dump: Write down everything you need to do. Our brains can handle only 1-7 pieces of information at a time. Writing everything down clears your mind.

2. Prioritize: Understand that time is limited. Learn to say NO. Focus on 1-3 priority tasks per day. Make a list for the next day and forget the rest until it becomes relevant.

3. Focus: Work on the task at hand for approximately 90 minutes with no distractions. Then rest and continue. In this focus mode, act like nothing else exists.

Take the First Step Today

You’re not alone in this struggle. Like many people before you can confirm, feeling in control is possible.

It takes some rewiring, but the payoff is immense. Start small. Today, try one 90-minute focus block on a high-priority task.

Let me know how it goes!
