Stop wasting time reading books you won't remember.

The scariest thing about reading a book cover-to-cover? You believe that you learned something, but then you forget 99% in 1 week.

Think of reading like eating, which consists of:

  • Consuming

  • Digesting

You wouldn’t try to consume a 100-course meal in one sitting, so why treat books that way? Too often, we race through books, only to forget 99% of what we’ve read within a week.

Instead of rushing, aim to consume small sections of a book, digest its meaning, and reflect before moving on.

This helps in understanding the material and retaining it for the long term.

Think of it like feeding your brain in manageable bites.

Personally, I used to rush through books, feeling a sense of accomplishment after finishing them.

But what did I remember?

Not much.

My breakthrough came when I started pausing after each chapter to reflect, take notes, and discuss the key points with others.

This practice boosted my retention like no other method or hack.

If your goal is to learn, slow down.

Treat reading as an active process: consume, digest, and truly absorb the ideas before moving on.
